As an ADHD girly who sidequests a lot, I decided to structure my random hobbies into a 12-month curriculum.
If you're reading this, you're probably curious how I did it.
You're an ambitious person - someone who wants to try all the cool things life has to offer.
But life is also overwhelming.
And so you end up scrolling, feeling guilty about it...
Because if you weren't so "lazy" and just started earlier, you'd be amazing at that skill or language by now.
Well...here's your wake up call.
You're not lazy.
What you struggle with is something else...

Drawing

Murder mystery box

Meal prep
It's not about laziness - it's about regulation
You know that feeling.
You decide to start a new habit: practice a language every day.
You do it for a week, then give up.
Suddenly, there's the familiar feeling of shame that makes you avoid all those language learning apps you downloaded...
Then your brain comes up with excuses:
"I didn't have time"
"I didn't have money"
"I'm just not disciplined"
And so you beat yourself up.
But imagine you're tutoring a kid.
Do you think telling them they're lazy is what's gonna help them learn?
What helps them learn instead?
A feeling of safety.
Knowing they can ask questions nonstop.
Not being afraid to fail, because it means you learned what could be improved for next time.
A calm inner voice that regulates you
Will take you closer to your goals,
Instead of avoiding them.
How tracking helps
What's the opposite of avoidance?
Awareness.
And that's exactly what tracking forces me to do:
Be more aware.
When I tracked my cry count, I could calm down and reflect on why I was upset
When I tracked my time spent doing people-pleasing favours, I could see how much of my energy it drained
When I tracked my learning habits, I could feel more "complete" every day knowing I made progress
The act of tracking makes me more aware of my actions,
Which changes my behaviour.
Suddenly, I'm wondering:
"Why am I doing this? Should I be doing this?"
And as a result, I take actions that are more aligned with the life I want to live.
Examples: how tracking changes behaviour

there are gaps in the calendar but I always get back to it! I’d rather see a small gap than a blank calendar

Life tracking systems
Tracking everything in my life is how I:
Went viral after posting consistently, because I tracked my daily posting
Became a full-time content creator, because I tracked my finances
Make time to learn new skills, because I tracked my learning habits
If you're curious about my tracking systems, stay tuned for the full course soon...
