1 year ago, I met a creator who made millions from social media.
What she said to me shocked me so much that I still remember it:
“I feel bad for people who don’t buy my course, because I know how much it could change their lives.”
Here’s how I interpreted her words…
Entitlement vs confidence
I could’ve very easily judged her for being entitled.
Who was she to pity people who don’t pay for her course?
But I could also think from another perspective:
She’s so confident in her value that she ended up making millions from it - and changed lives as a result.
It doesn’t actually matter how she meant her words to be received…
Because it’s about how I react to them.
Here’s what I mean.
If I reacted negatively (thinking she’s entitled)
My thoughts: omg she’s so entitled
My hidden beliefs: people should be grateful to get paid something rather than nothing
Values that drive those beliefs: humility
My actions: feeling uncomfortable asking for the sale, making less money as a result. Also accepting low pay and being resentful…not living a life I want.
Note: I’m not saying thinking this way is bad - but it’s worth reflecting on the impacts of your judgments of others to see if it helps you vs hurts you.
If I reacted positively (learning from and admiring her confidence)
My thoughts: omg I wish I had that level of confidence in my own course…
My hidden beliefs: people who are confident in themselves lift others up - their confidence inspires change
Values that drive those beliefs: helping others by leading by example
My actions: launching my course focusing on testimonials sharing how it’s changed lives

a DM from this morning 🥰
Which life would you rather live?
I’m not saying I’m perfect - sometimes I still struggle with confidence and sales.
But because I focus more on the positive side of things,
I feel like I’m more empowered and motivated to continue working towards my goals.
Because when I judge others or devalue their accomplishments, it hurts me too.
Every time I think “ugh it’s another content creator scamming people with selling useless products,”
There’s a hidden fear:
“Am I also seen as a scammer? Do people think this way about me?”
And all those fears mean I’m too scared to promote my courses or sell my products, which means delaying my dream life.
I’m not saying to fall for scams though 😅
But just being more aware of which thought patterns help vs hurt you can make a huge difference in staying consistent with your goals.
But how do you change your thought patterns?
It’s part of what my course helps with.
Actually, today’s email was inspired by a DM I had with a student who recently completed the course:

this msg rly meant a lot to me 🥺
To be honest, I have a confession -
Even with all the reviews and testimonials, I’m still a bit insecure about my work…

That’s why I offer a generous refund policy - it’s not necessarily for you, but for me.
So I can feel a bit more at ease knowing that if you don’t like the course, at least I wouldn’t be called a scammer bc I’ll just refund you 🥺
Hopefully that’s a win win for both of us 🫶
So if you’re curious about changing your life for the better,
How was today's email?
Til next time,
Jennifer
