You have all these objections:
Don’t have time
Don’t know where to start
Don’t have energy
It’s too boring
If you were selling something, how would you do objection handling here?
Don’t have time → takes 2 min
Don’t know where to start → just guess and go from there - make it easy
Don’t have energy → do the bare minimum (Minimum Viable Action)
Too boring → set a timer so you only suffer for that amount of time
Make it such a good offer that it’s hard to say no.
Example: my marathon training
My excuses:
I don’t wanna run in the rain
I don’t have a treadmill for indoor running
I don’t wanna go outside (it’s dark)
I don’t wanna change
I don’t have time to run 1 hr daily
Salesperson Jen doing objection handling:
Indoor running with no treadmill → just run in circles in my house
Don’t wanna change → run in my PJs
Only run for like 2 min
So that’s how I ended up running in circles around my house in my PJs at 10pm.
Level up over time
Soon, 2 min runs indoors were too easy.
But I already got into the habit every day…
So I slowly built up to running for 1 hour outside every day.
Because I made it fun and easy to take action towards my goals.
