the #1 lie ur telling urself abt productivity
i'm guilty of this too
Every month, I make a new Notion doc to get my life together.

Did I take action on all of these plans?
Not really…
But I kept trying.
And I kept beating myself up over “not being disciplined enough.”
But my problem wasn’t really my lack of discipline…
Let’s rewind to August last year
I launched my course in 3 weeks,
And made $14k in a single month 🤯
I look back and I’m like…how did I do that…I was so disciplined…
But I think about what really happened.
I wasn’t necessarily disciplined.
I was just excited.
I was confident my course would help many people (and it did).
So I locked in without a clear plan.
Didn’t need to set aside 4 hours to plan on the weekend.
So I wasn’t really more disciplined back then…
It’s a mindset thing
One of my students told me he was doing the same things before and after the course.
But for some reason, he felt way better and stayed more consistent after.
Did he have more discipline?
No…he told me that his life felt more like a game.
It felt fun.
It was the same for my course launch.
My work didn’t feel like work, so I could stay consistent with it.
It was fun for me.
But how do you make something more fun?
Be curious
Having this experimental mindset helps me get things done:
I have to finish what I start if I really want to know the results of my experiment (“what happens if I launch a course?”)
I’m forced to reframe failure (and other fears) as learning opportunities
I get excited by the novelty of an experiment with a clear timeline, which makes it fun
Instead of having a fear-based mindset (“I’m not good enough, I can’t do this”),
Coming from a place of curiosity (“what happens if I try this?”) encourages you to take action more consistently.
So it’s not really that you’re lazy or undisciplined.
It’s that you haven’t found the right mindset and systems that work for you yet.
And to find those, start with this question:
What’s something you can be curious about this week?
How was today's email? |
Til next Monday,
Jennifer
P.S. gonna launch another cohort of my life tracking course in September - keep an eye out in your email for it! It’s where you can learn to build your own systems to make time for what matters to you 🫶
